FINALLY FINISHED

Well it took almost a year but I finally finished the "Man Cave"
I started with a vision of how I wanted it to look, and it came out exactly how I expected.
Since I was doing all the work myself I was able to take my time and buy the construction materials as I went and not have to take out a loan.

The Man cave has a 12' long bar, beer on tap, a 42" TV, a seating area, a fireplace, a bar type dartboard, and yes...a stripper pole & stage.

Being a musician, it has a music theme. I am building what I call my "Wall of Inspiration" It has photos of all the bands and guitarist's that inspired me to pursue my music career

My Favorite element of the Man Cave.

Will here is my favorite part of the man cave. A 6' x 6' stage for the stripper pole. The stage will be outlined by recessed rope ligt. I also purchased a 6' x 4' mirror to put on the wall behind the stage. The top of the stage will be finshed with hardwood flooring to match the landing at the bottom of the spiral stairs (Landing is not build yet)

Construction Update

I have the bar now built. I took the plans and added another 48" to the length of the bar. It is now 12' long with a 4' long "L" section. I decided on a faux leather panel for the finish. You will notice a cut out in the middle of the bar. I plan to retire my favorite guitar so I am going to finish that opening with a velvet material and hang the guitar in there and enclose it with Lexan. The bar top is not on yet decided. It will either be a laminate from Vangura or one that I will build with music memorabilia covered with clear epoxy.

Construction Update

When I went to Home Depot to purchase paint for the walls I was floored by the zillions of colors. Took me about two weeks to pick the colors. I decided on Red & Olive (ish) for the walls. The ceiling will be black and the carpet will be a neutral colored short shag.

Progress Update

Well I finished hanging the drywall on Monday. I will finish the joints this week and then put a primer coat on over the weekend. I found an awesome 6' x 4' mirror on craigslist so I bought it figuring it will look great behind the stripper pole.

After paint I will build a small stage (wink) and then start construction of the bar. We decided that an 8' bar was not big enough so I am making it 12' long.

We are now looking for three high top bar tables and stools.

Finally statrting the remodel

Now that I could begin to build my Man Cave I had to put furring strips on the walls to accept the wainscoting and drywall.

Construction

The first thing I needed to do was to come up with a design. And here is what I decided on.

The Man Cave will be 28' x 30' (clear span)
I wanted an "L" shaped bar, so after scouring the Internet I found the one I wanted and bought the plans from Precision Images Design located in Willow Grove, PA. I will adapt the bar to accommodate a tap system for the brewski.
The bar I am going to build is model HB-006

I wanted a kicking sound system with a large screen TV. I plan on putting some dance lights in as well

For the walls I decided on drywall and paint. the ceiling will be your basic suspended ceiling except we will paint it black

My favorite element of my man cave will be a stripper pole.
