Finally statrting the remodel

Now that I could begin to build my Man Cave I had to put furring strips on the walls to accept the wainscoting and drywall.

Construction

The first thing I needed to do was to come up with a design. And here is what I decided on.

The Man Cave will be 28' x 30' (clear span)
I wanted an "L" shaped bar, so after scouring the Internet I found the one I wanted and bought the plans from Precision Images Design located in Willow Grove, PA. I will adapt the bar to accommodate a tap system for the brewski.
The bar I am going to build is model HB-006

I wanted a kicking sound system with a large screen TV. I plan on putting some dance lights in as well

For the walls I decided on drywall and paint. the ceiling will be your basic suspended ceiling except we will paint it black

My favorite element of my man cave will be a stripper pole.

The Beginning

Lucy and I purchased a house in October of 2007. It was the perfect house for us. Just the right size, with a 1 acre fenced in yard for our dog. It also has a ginormous garage Argh Argh Argh.

But....There was a slight problem (for most people) with the house.

The Basement was flooded when the mortgage company shut of the power after the previous owners left. The basement had three feet of water in it. The realty company had the electric turned back on and had the basement pumped dry. The sump pumps kept the basement dry. Lucy and I looked at the house the day after they pumped the basement. Now to most people the sight we saw would have sent them running to the hills. However Lucy and I are not most people...LOL We looked at it and said....we can work with this.

After we closed on the house we tore into the basement and gutted it down to the bare concrete block. We washed walls, floors and ceilings. We then had the whole house fogged with Concrobium to remove any traces of mold that may have been in the house. Once we had the house clean we moved in.

As I was sitting looking at the cool spiral stairs that lead to the basement I decided to design and build my own "Man Cave"

This blog will chronicle my progress as I move forward.
